La pensi\u00f3n era regenteada por Frau Elsa, una patriota alemana pero no hitleriana que le arrendaba las habitaciones solamente a alemanes, a Witold y a Alejandro R\u00fassovich, amigo y traductor de Gombrowicz que durante un tiempo estuvo en el cuarto contiguo. Dice R\u00fassovich: \u201cTen\u00edamos derecho a utilizar la cocina pero nunca lo hac\u00edamos. Salvo para preparar el mate que me gustaba tomar de vez en cuando. \u00a1Pero Witold jam\u00e1s! Era una costumbre b\u00e1rbara, propia de indios, dec\u00eda \u00e9l. Se negaba a probarlo\u201d. Actualmente, en la puerta del edificio se puede ver una placa conmemorativa.
